The headlight adjusting unit VAS 5209B checks and evaluates the headlight setting electronically.
To do this, the headlight beam pattern is digitalised by a "high dynamic range CMOS camera" and transferred to the control electronics within the equipment for processing. From there, the test result is sent for viewing to the LCD graphic display.
The equipment can be adjusted individually for different country-specific requirements (e.g. LHD and RHD vehicles). In addition, there is also an option of transferring the recorded data (headlight beam pattern and results analysis) to a PC. The headlight adjustment unit (which can also be mounted optionally on rails) can be used as an additional test instrument module as part of the dialogue reception VAS 5000 configuration.
